Photobooks 2011: And the winner is… →
The list of lists compiled by Marc Feustel now includes the selections from Photo Eye and a couple of other. Feustel pulled together 52 lists reporting 313 books. Redheaded Peckerwood by Christian Patterson is the big winner with 19 votes.

From a family friend Thomas Elshuis inherited an archive of more than twentythousand slides documenting his travels around the world. Elshuis uses this archive to create new photographic works by recomposing the pictures. In Carousel he used the archive to create an imaginary mountain landscape. It is published as a Leporello-sheet of 4 meters.

The Dutch Photobook →
In the first quarter of 2012 NAI Publishers will publish The Dutch Photo Book, an overview of the development of the Dutch photo book since 1945. The book will discuss over 120 photo books. It is published together with an exhibition called Celebration of the photobook that will be held at the Photo Museum in Rotterdam from March 10 until May 20 2012.

Eanna Freeney on how he took photographs to combat... →
Nice interview in Dazed and Confused with Eanna Freeney, founder of The Velvet Cell, an independent imprint for photography. Among the things he reveals in the interview is that The Velvet Cell will publish some larger format books next year and that they are working on ‘a secret big release’ for the end of 2012.
